In 1988, the Espace Senghor is officially inaugurated by Sedar Senghor Lepold in person. The name of the former Prime Minister of Senegal - who is also a poet - rhymes with ideas of democracy , respect for everyone and artistic talent. He therefore encouraged to make this center a place of cultural diversit.

It is therefore not surprising that Espace Senghor known for his strong programmatiue found where world music and jazz place.

In January 2015 started Le Senghor together with two other partners - Théâtre Marni and Jazz Station - the new River Jazz Festival.
